Javer Server (PvP Fixed)
A Minecraft Java server that fights like the real thing. It is our fork of Pumpkin, a fast server written in Rust, rebuilt so PvP matches vanilla Minecraft 26.3: knockback, shields, totems, bows, wind charges, the mace and more.
Version 0.1.0-preview.1 · GPL-3.0 · Java Edition 26.3 · Linux x86-64

Built on Pumpkin MCThe open source Rust server we forked and improved.
// What we fixed
PvP that feels right, not almost right
Each fix is checked against real vanilla, not against our memory of how it should work.
Knockback
The push arrives at the right moment, goes only to the player who was hit, and has the right size for plain hits, sprint hits, W-taps and Knockback enchantments.
Shields and axes
Shields block from the front, axes switch them off for five seconds, and stun slams work.
Totems
They save you from the lethal hit, in either hand, and two totems save you twice.
Bows, tridents and spears
Arrows and tridents hit players, Punch and Piercing behave, and the spear's Lunge enchantment works, including item swaps.
Mace and wind charges
Smash damage, Breach, Density and Wind Burst. Wind charges and ender pearls boost you off any block, from any angle.
Explosions
End crystals, respawn anchors and beds hurt the right amount, Blast Protection works, and kills are credited properly.
Everything around a fight
Armor wears down, fall damage and potions use vanilla numbers, golden apples and experience bottles work, and other players' movement looks smooth.
Closer to vanilla everywhere
Dozens of smaller fixes in commands, items and entity syncing. The full list is in CHANGES.md inside the source download.
Open about the gaps
It is a preview. Mobs, blocks and some physics still differ from vanilla, and we say so in the open instead of hiding it.
// How we know
We test it against the real thing
We built a test tool, pvp-probe. Two scripted players play the same fights on a real vanilla 26.3 server and on ours, and we compare what each player's game receives.
- Run it on vanilla. The scripts fight, and we record every packet each player gets.
- Run the same fights on ours. The scripts send what a real client sends, including the extra messages a real game adds when you aim at a block.
- Compare. Every difference is a bug. We fix it, then run again.
Latest results
Results are being verified. We are running the full test suite against vanilla one more time and will publish the exact numbers here before the first release.
// Download
Free, with the source included
Downloads open with the first release. The files will be listed here with checksums.
Everything is free under the GPL-3.0 license. The source code comes with every download, and you can build it yourself.
// Run it
Three commands
These steps work once the first release is published.
tar xzf javer-server-0.1.0-preview.1-linux-x86_64.tar.gz cd javer-server-0.1.0-preview.1 ./pumpkin
On first start it creates its settings file, pumpkin.toml, and a world. It listens on the usual Minecraft port, and you join with Minecraft Java Edition 26.3. The settings you will want first are online_mode, the whitelist and the address. The source download has a hosting guide.
Linux x86-64 only for now. Bedrock players have not been tested.

Built on the work of others
Javer Server stands on a lot of people's work. Thank you.

Pumpkin MC
The Rust Minecraft server this is a fork of, and every contributor who built it. See the contributors and the project site.
Mojang Studios
Minecraft and its game data belong to Mojang Studios. We match their game, and we are not affiliated with them.
GeyserMC
Our test players are built with MCProtocolLib, their open source Minecraft protocol library.
PaperMC
We use Paper as a second reference server when we compare behavior.
The Minecraft Wiki
The community's PvP tutorial gave us the checklist of techniques to test.

Javer Studios
We forked it, fixed the PvP, built the tests and wrote this page. Parts of the work were written with AI coding assistants and checked by tests against real vanilla Minecraft.
Found a bug? Tell us.
It is the fastest way to make the next version better. Open an issue and describe what you did, what you expected and what happened. For PvP bugs the exact steps matter most: what you held, whether you were sprinting, and what you swapped to.
// What is next
More fixes
Your reports first, then more of vanilla's behavior for mobs, blocks and items.
Back to Pumpkin
Sending our fixes upstream to the Pumpkin project, so everyone gets them.
A Javer Game Host option
A server type so you can run it without setting anything up. This is planned and not available yet.
